Sonja Skocic
I have dedicated many years to understanding and treating anxiety (social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder), eating disorders, addictions and depression. More broadly, I am interested in women’s mental health and wellbeing.
I am also committed to supporting health professionals improve treatment outcomes for their clients/patients and safeguard their own wellbeing including reducing the risk of burnout and vicarious trauma. As Chief Psychologist of Australia’s largest private psychiatric hospital and mental health service, I provide direction and support for staff and lead a team of over 30 registered psychologists. I provide guidance on best practice through clinical supervision, consultation and clinical reviews and am directly involved in the development and quality improvement of educational and therapeutic programs for patients, students and staff.
In my role as Director of Therapy at Melbourne Centre for Women's Mental Health, I provide psychological assessment, treatment and clinical supervision and training. My focus there is on improving the mental health of women and girls and supporting other mental health professionals in their work.
