Description

The IJVG Skills Development Program is a comprehensive early intervention program with a dual emphasis on developing both athletes and the community in general. The IJVG Skills Development Program is delivered as a 12 session obesity, high-risk drinking and drug use program.

This program utilises the philosophies adopted by the IJVG, community leaders and the local Indigenous Community. The focus is to offer a number of options to enhance the development of each facilitator who in turn goes out into the community to support the development and emotional health and wellbeing of others. This is achieved through the delivery of early intervention life skills programs that focus on preventing and reducing obesity, high-risk drinking and drug use with athletes and community leaders as program facilitators.

The unique approach in preventing and reducing obesity, high-risk drinking and drug use is to be achieved through careful course development enriched by strict adherence to the adult learning process and evidence-based research.
